5 Things We've Learned About Group Blogging

Hi foodie friends! Today’s post is a little bit different than our normal recipe posts. As you may know, we recently celebrated our second year of blogging on this here blog. Over the course of two years we’ve definitely had our ups, downs and lots of learning thrown our way. No one likes group projects at school or work (we’re in that boat too), so how has it worked for us?

We’re going to share with you the five things that we’ve learned about group blogging that have helped us continue on with this project despite some of the speed bumps we’ve had along the way.

Sushi & Maki in SE Portland: A Review

I remember the first time I ate at Sushi & Maki. It was about 3 or 4 years ago. My fellow blogger Warren and I were craving sushi, and we were in the area of Clackamas Town Center mall. I searched for Sushi places online, and found that Sushi & Maki had the best reviews. I liked it, Warren didn't. For me, I see it as a hidden jem. It's a tiny little restaurant next to a furniture store and two mattress stores. The outside is unassuming and hard to see from the main road, 82nd Ave.

London Food Journal: A Guide to London Nightlife on a Weeknight

We were only in London from Sunday to Wednesday morning, so our taste of the nightlife was probably a little different than those who take a weekend holiday. But we still tasted the nightlife, and gained a unique perspective on the nightlife in London, a weeknight perspective.

If you are going to visit London for the same time frame as us, you may have some of the same questions that I had about going out, making friends, and consuming alcohol in a far-away place you have never experienced.

Peach Glazed Salmon Recipe

I happen to love colors that are in the peach/salmon family. A little bit of orange, a touch of pink, and a whole lot of dreamy sunset. For this recipe, I was inspired by the color and the flavor of a Rose wine made at the Del Rio Vineyards in Gold Hill, OR (learn more about them here). The wine is bubbly and sweet with a fruity aroma. It blends well with the light fruity and tangy glaze for my salmon. I'm not a wine expert by any means, but this seemed like a match made in heaven to me.

Macarons from La Provence

Macarons are a delicious treat. And while some maybe better (sweeter, chewier, crunchier) than others, it's hard to go wrong with this sweet treat. Macarons are merengue-based french sweets, that consist of two cookies, with a filling sandwiched between the two sides, akin to an american whoopie pie. The cookies are made of egg white, sugar and almond powder, and they are colored to denote what flavor the cookie is. The filling can be made of ganache, jam or buttercream. They start by delighting your eyes, the vivid colors are really eye catching, and a well made macaron tempts you to not eat it, and to just keep it with your bells and baubles because it looks so pretty. But you simply can't do that. This cookie was made for eating!

Valentine's Day Sweet Treat Recipe

Tasty Tuesday is here foodie friends! Wahoo!! Can I be honest with you? Valentine's Day is the last thing I want to spend much time on. After the stresses of the holidays in November and December, the last thing I want to do is worry about having a big to-do on the calendar. But of course, every February 14th we find ourselves in the same place. There always feels some sort of requirement to do something small for friends, family and co-workers.

Game Day Dip: Pepperoni and Sausage Pizza Recipe

Image MapHappy Super Bowl, foodie friends! Rumor has it there's two animals that are going to battle it out. Ones a wild horse, the other is a wild cat. In all reality, I'm not going to be watching the game, but I do love a wild cat, so I'm going to root for the Panthers.

Easy Hershey's Cupcakes

Here's another cupcake post just in time for Valentine's day! I will start by saying that I'm not being paid by Hershey's. I just really love this cupcake mix. When you eat these scrumptious little cakes, you'll forget that they came from a box mix at all. Not that a store-bought cupcake is guaranteed to be better than one from a box, but typically they're not associated with being high quality. In this case, though, the cupcakes are moist, flavorful, inexpensive, and they are guaranteed to be fresh every time!
