Mother's Day Roundup

Happy Monday, foodie friends! It's already May which means Mother's Day will be here before you know it! No really, it's on Sunday. It's always good to show your mom to show her how much you love her, but it's really important to really give thanks to her on this special day. Moms really are special to many of us.

I must say that my mother drives me crazy at times, but I would be lost without her. I know I'm going to do what I can to make this Mother's Day to be extra special because it's the first for her without her own mother. I want to share with you some of the ways that you can make your mom's day extraordinary.

Obviously, you need to start the day with food. If you're not going to take her out for breakfast or brunch, at least make her breakfast. Last year we shared some fun brunch recipes for Mother's Day that will surely touch your mom. Click on the pictures below to go the the recipes.

After breakfast it's time for the card! If you've got a newborn kid and a first time mom or grandma, you should definitely do one of these cards I saw on Pinterest. I imagine my mom has something very similar stuffed away for when my brother and I were wee ones.

I found this really great quote that I absolutely loved, and will be sharing with my mom on Sunday.

SOURCE//FULL OF GREAT IDEAS

Now you can definitely go the route of giving your mom some flowers, but a great alternative to the bouquet is an edible one. You can easily make this at home, but I bought this one a few years ago for my mom from Edible Arrangements.

Now, you might be thinking, what if I want to get her a gift? Answer: you should get her a gift. I loved these two gift idea lists from Buzzfeed (one, two).

Finally, wind down and take your mom to the movies (fair warning, it's a pretty busy day at the theater) or stay home and watch one of her favorites. I'll be watching What A Girl Wants with my mom this Sunday because...duh...it's our favorite movie to watch together.

If you can't be with your mom on Mother's Day be sure to call her on the phone (or if she's savvy call her on FaceTime or Skype)! Also, I might suggest posting one of these classic mom-centric songs on her Facebook wall (because yes we're all a bit embarrassed by her posts, but she is your mom so you have to be her friend). All these songs, will make you cry!
