Sweet and Tangy Red Wine Steak Recipe

Image MapHello foodie friends! I hope you're all doing well and staying cool! We're having a bit of a heatwave here in Portland the last few days, but I think it's coming to an end soon. Last week was a bit of doozy for me I have been doing a ton of schoolwork, taking midterms, and writing papers. Plus, I've been working on this new project at work that has been a bit of a mental time consumer. With all that said, I decided I deserved something nice for dinner!

I was wandering around the supermarket, and while I don't drink, I found myself purusing down the wine aisle and saw this red wine called, "Our Daily Red." I immediately snatched it up and bought it because the bottle was cracking me up! I decided to use it as my inspiration for this post.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• 2 nice looking steaks
• Red Wine, preferrably something with exquisite flavor or hilarious branding
• 1/2 orange, juiced
• 3 garlic cloves, pressed
• 1/2 sweet onion, minced
• Olive oil
• balsamic vinegar

WHIP IT UP

In a pan saute the onion and garlic in olive oil. Combine 3 tablespoons of red wine, orange juice and a splash of balsamic vinegar. bring to a boil, stirring constantly, the liquid will start to reduce.

At that point add the steaks to the pan to brown in the saute, flipping both sides for an even cook.

Once browned broil in oven for 7 minutes. Covering steaks with remains of sauted onions and garlic.

This mixture was totally out of the brain, and a shot in the dark, but it turned out so good. It's sweet and tangy with a hint of the red wine. I would definitely make this again. I served it with a side salad that had a honey balsamic dressing and some rainbow potatoes. It was the perfect treat yourself meal!

What do you do to treat yourself after a long week?
